Imagine a Film Festival | The Youth Academy
Audiovisual of the exhibition 'Imagine a Festival' commemorating the 70th anniversary of the San Sebastian Film Festival.
From the outset, the Festival has been committed to the cinema of the future: new filmmakers and film schools.
The New Directors section has always been present in the Official Selection, discovering promising young directors such as Víctor Erice, Terrence Malick, Francis Ford Coppola...
In 1974, the New Creators section was created, a forerunner of New Directors, which became competitive in 1979, with the participation of Pedro Almodóvar, Iván Zulueta, Montxo Armendariz, Olivier Assayas, Tsai Ming-liang, Walter Salles, Nicolas Winding Refn, Lee Daniels, Bong Joon-ho, Laurent Cantet and Lucile Hadzihalilovic.
As for the presence of Film Schools, between 1960-65, the International Film School Days will be held, which will be a foretaste of 'Nest', the section on Film Schools.
On the other hand, the Festival will also be devoted to projects: Cinema under construction, Cinema in movement, looks at Latin America, the Maghreb and minority languages, without forgetting the Ikusmira Berriak residency programme.
